Steel and stainless steel are suitable only for light, desktop-level work; the machine should not be presented to customers as an industrial milling machine.

For hardwood engraving with the 500 W spindle, a recommended starting range is 8,000–12,000 RPM. Use shallow cuts over multiple passes, keep the bit sharp, and use dust collection. The official dust-collection design is claimed to reduce dust by more than 85%. Don’t start at maximum speed: test a few settings on scrap material first, then use the settings that give you the result you want.

Clean away chips regularly, especially around the lead screws and limit switches, since dust buildup can cause unusual movement or noise. Check for loose screws and lubricate the lead screws and rails. Avoid operating or storing the machine in damp or heavily dust-laden environments.
